WHAT IS A COOKIE

Cookies are small files that are downloaded to a user’s device when they visit the Cargen website. The cookie allows the website to “remember” your actions or preferences over time. Most browsers support cookies, but users can set their browsers to refuse them and can delete them at any time.

WHY DO WE USE COOKIES ON THE CARGEN WEBSITE?

The Cargen website uses “cookies” to facilitate navigation on the website and to improve its quality. Cookies are essential to enable you to navigate around the Cargen website. Cargen also uses cookies to detect fraud and misuse of its websites and products. You can disable cookies by changing the settings of your browser/app.

CAN YOU ACCEPT OR REFUSE COOKIES?

You give consent to the use of cookies by clicking on the button that presents an opt-in in our cookie banner when you first visit our site (or when you revisit the site after deleting the cookie that remembers your cookie preference). You can also refuse the use of cookies. However, you can only accept or refuse all cookies at once.

ARE THERE COOKIES BEING SET WITHOUT MY CONSENT?

Yes. The cookies that are set to enable us to track visitor data with Google Analytics are placed without your consent, but in a way that is in accordance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation of the EU).

To respect your privacy as much as possible and still learn some things from our site visitors without being able to identify them, we have taken the following measures:

  • We hereby inform you that we track visitors with Google Analytics cookies.
  • We anonymize your IP address, making you unidentifiable.
  • Cargen has accepted Google’s data processing agreement in response to the GDPR.
WHICH COOKIES DO WE USE?

We use two types of cookies on the Cargen website:

Necessary cookies help the Cargen website function by enabling basic functions like page navigation. The website cannot function properly without these cookies.

The purposes of these cookies are:

  • Identify trusted web traffic
  • Ensure our website works properly
  • Enhance performance and detect errors
  • Save settings and preferences

These are first-party cookies placed both temporarily (during this visit) and permanently (across visits).

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our websites by collecting anonymous information. They do not identify you based on personal data, so the collected info is anonymized. They tell us which pages you view, how you navigate, and how long you stay on our website.

The purposes of these cookies are:

  • Collect data on the number of times a user has visited the Cargen website, as well as dates of the first and last visit.
  • Collect a time stamp of the last visit of the user, as well as when the users leaves the Cargen site in order to calculate the duration of a visit.
  • Measure the speed of the request to the server.
  • Collect data on:
    • Where the user came from
    • Which search engine was used
    • Which link was clicked
    • Which search term was uses
  • Measure the the speed and performance of the Cargen website
  • Commercial third-party cookies: keep track of which advertisements are being shown to what user. (Not relevant on our site as we do not publish advertisements. The cookies are however set because Cargen can use functionality from those third parties, such as for instance LinkedIn.)

Some of these analytics cookies are third-party cookies. These are owned and used by other companies to collect data across different websites. Cookies with the same name can be used by different providers for the same purpose, for example, the _ga cookie to distinguish unique users (without knowing their identity).
